First podcast analysing implications of HIPs delay announcement
A big big thanks to both Jim Gillespie and Neil Kurz for suffering myself today on this inaugural podcast.
I never thought I'd be doing podcasts here, I have to say. But the recent news-flow and shockwaves have been so far-reaching (following the announcement to delay the launch of HIPs until August 1st), that writing it all down was just too slow and cumbersome.
Podcast #1
Thanks to Google Video, you can now enjoy the podcast (and save my bandwidth) there! It's also available for download via the link below, if you wish to host or pass it around yourself.
Google: Home Information Pack Delay - Discussion and Analysis
Or download: Shooting from the HIP (wmv: Movie file. Approx length 1hr).
We analyse what each new proposal might mean and discuss how realistic an August 1st launch actually is (at least for HIPs, if not EPCs too).
- We talk dirty about compensation claims, RICs... and the whole bunch.
- We tip our hat to Mike Norris (polite golf clap) ;)
- Possible avenues of action (well, definite avenues of action actually).
- Plus much more.
Feel free to download and post on your own site - The more people in the industry that get a feel for what the DEA community is discussing, the better.
Podcast Notes
I pinged Rod Crosby via the Home Inpector Forum for details about the venue/time of the meeting we mentioned in the podcast. He came back and said it was a North-West-only meeting with no further elaboration. I offered to do a podcast with him after the meeting to share the highlights etc... I'm still awaiting his response.
Jim mentioned lodging a complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. Thanks to chriserenity (who found the correct link), you can do this via their complaint form; Fill it in, get your MP to sign it, and fire it off.
Two other sites representative of Home Inspectors and DEA's mentioned:
NARHI.org.uk and Institute of Home Inspection (IHI)
PS... Yes, I know the jingle is pathetic!
