Hands off!

David Miliband's alleged lurch for Gordon's job this week has prompted rumours that the Prime Minister will perform a cabinet reshuffle.

Anyone that tries to watch this space will know how difficult it is to keep up with events. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to get to grips with the width and depth our Caroline's brief now runs:

  • Housing reform, strategy and performance
  • Housing supply
  • Buying, selling and owning a home
  • Private housing
  • Homelessness
  • Decent homes and housing finance
  • Housing support and adaptations
  • Social housing management
  • Housing research and statistics

...and that's just the top layers!

With so many consultations on-the-go, updates to the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), the launch of Display Energy Certificates, EPCs on rentals and First Day Marketing, to name just a few, the last thing we need, IMO, is another minister lost in the thick of almost certain crossfire.

We need our Caroline to see her job through, for continuity's sake, if nothing else. Last year we had three housing ministers so love, loath or fancy her, we should keep Caroline Flint now that she is getting to know her department.
