Driving business to solicitors

After opposing the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs) last year, it seems The Law Society are now actively promoting it on behalf of its own profession.

In a post entitled, 'Prioritise HIPs, says Law Society' on LegalWeek.co.uk, Paul Marsh - Law Society Vice President - is quoted:

It is in a seller’s best interests to ensure they have a complete and correct HIP. The whole point of HIPs is to give buyers the necessary information to enable them to make an informed decision about whether or not to buy

Driving business away from HIP providers

In a thinly veiled attempt to steer homeowners away from HIP providers, he later goes on to say:

Solicitors are the professionals best placed to provide good quality HIPs to assist in the sale of the property. They have the necessary legal expertise to guide you through the whole process...
