Homeowners' questionnaire

Interesting interview with Housing Minister, Caroline Flint, in Tribune Magazine this week in which she talks about the plates she has to spin and the lucky timing of landing the plump job just as the 'credit crunch' emerged.

Of more interest to you, perhaps, is the news that she is currently looking at ways to improve the Home Information Pack (HIP). To what extreme those proposals are, is not revealed. But one of them, at least, is a "homeowners' questionnaire".

She is currently looking at ways to improve HIPs, possibly by introducing a homeowners’ questionnaire

Tribune » Caroline Flint interview

This is a call that's often made but I wonder what we will end up with: another 60 page document? An intrusive 20 minute vendor interview?

A questionnaire could provide useful information to improve HIPS however it does depend on how the questionnaire is structured and whether or not DCLG actually takes note of its conclusions. Sadly DCLG does not have a good record at listening to what it is told. Personnally I feel it is one of those ideas that sound good on paper but will not have any practical benefit.
