HES, CERT and CESP Consultation Responses

The deadline for responses to the Heat and Energy Saving Strategy (HES) has been extended until tomorrow apparently. But which accreditation schemes and representative organisations have responded to these career-defining proposals? Also, BRE and DECC publish new draft proposals for SAP 2009 - another consultation!

Northgate Responds to CERT Consultation

Northgate has published its response to the CERT consultation and calls for Home Energy Advisers to deliver and install Real Time Displays (RTDs), CFLs, and to provide advice on benefit entitlements.

Northern Ireland EPC Countdown: Just 3 RdSAP Software Approved

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are required on all homes marketed for sale in Northern Ireland from tomorrow, yet some Domestic Energy Assessors may struggle to issue them at all unless they have access to BRE-approved RdSAP software only three accreditation schemes (Elmhurst, ECMK and Northgate) have so far attained. Also, Elmhurst claim the first EPC issued for Northern Ireland too!

Northgate RdSAP Software 1st for Northern Ireland

Northgate has won first approval from BRE to allow Domestic Energy Assessors to use its own RdSAP software for Northern Ireland Energy Performance Certificates, which become law on residential home sales later this month. This might also be a good time to look at the differences between Northern Ireland and England & Wales whilst we are at it too.

EPC Forces Home off Property Market

Mr Graham Glen withdrew his carbon neutral home from sale because of poor Energy Performance Certificate, he claims. His story reveals failings in his Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA), the EPC provider and the RdSAP methodology. It also signals a change in the EPCs influence on property values.
