This was after a controversial delay because of insufficient numbers of Domestic Energy Assessors. Four months later and there were twice the number required... and still growing.

EPC Anniversary - 3 bed homes

Energy Performance Certificates on all 3 bed homes marketed for sale in England and Wales were first introduced as a legal requirement on this day in 2007, marking the second phase of their controversial implementation. Around this period the first signs of what became known as the Credit Crunch began to take effect after a run-on UK bank, Northern Rock, saw queues of panicked savers outside local branches desperate to withdraw life savings - this would ultimately signal a major change in mortgage availability as banks restricted inter-bank borrowing.
