Transitional Home Information Pack measures end

Well, look what I've found!

Today, the CLG updated their Statement of Forthcoming Regulations which includes, on page 10, confirmation that from 1st January 2009, temporary measures for "insurance provision for personal searches, first day marketing and leasehold requirements" will end, as planned, on 31st December 2008.

These changes are intended to end the temporary measures and put the HIP regulations on a complete and permanent footing from 1 January 2009 onwards.

Now, unless the authors of this document have failed to mention within the 'further information' box that this is still currently under review and subject to change - something they have done for other forthcoming regulations listed - then it looks to be a done deal.

In which case, standby for the media fireballs coming from your favourite vested interests!

[Added: As a result of this post it was whispered (to me) that someone at the CLG battered someone else responsible for the cock-up in the corridor. The (correct) date for the end of First Day Marketing was eventually announced in December 08: HIPs: First Day Marketing Extended - it ended April 5th 2009, BTW]
